LEGAL ASSISTANT
Office of College CounselSaint Mary's College of California - Moraga, CASaint Mary's College invites applications for a part-time Legal Assistant to provide administrative support for the Office of College Counsel. Work in a highly collaborative and culturally diverse campus environment. Effectively communicate with a diverse community of faculty, staff, students, alumni and donors. The succesful candidate will be expected to contribute to the mission of the College, which is informed, animated and expressed through its Catholic, Lasallian and Liberal Arts traditions. Anticipated working schedule is 20 hours per week.Reporting to the College Counsel, the Legal Assistant is an administrative liaison for the Counsel's Office to the rest of the campus, is responsible for organizing and maintaining confidential office records and files and scheduling appointments for the College Counsel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years experience working in a law office or corporate counsel's office or a combination of education and experience; paralegal certification and/or experience in corporate transactional legal practice strongly desired.
  • Working knowledge of legal terminology and syntax, and of the content, organization, and format of legal documents and correspondence; demonstrated experience and understanding of the attorney-client privelege and confidentiality; ability to conduct basic legal research; knowledge of law regarding subpoenas; knowledge of nonprofit or corporate governance issues is desired; working knowledge of legal contracts and demonstrated familiarity with basic legal issues.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain confidential office records; work independently and with only general direction on administrative and office tasks, prepare various reports and to compose effective correspondences; ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form; stay current with the ever changing computing environment; maintain effective working relationships with other senior leaders, faculty, staff and key College offices.
  • The successful candidate must be organized, accurate and detail oriented and be able to work under pressure during periods of high stress.
  • Proficient in Windows XP, Microsoft Word, Excell, Adobe Acrobat, email, internet useage and familiarity with other legal office management software.
